Model Overview
E-Series vans are available in the following configurations: E-150, E-250, E-350 Super Duty regular and extended-length versions and E-450.
Standard on the E-150 trims is a 4.6L V8 engine that makes 225 horsepower and 286 pounds-feet of torque. The E-350 comes with a 5.4L V8 engine making 255 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Exclusive to the E-350 is an optional 6.8L Triton V10 engine with 305 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. A 6.0L Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8 engine that makes 335 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, is also available on all but the E-150. The 4.6L and 5.4L engines are now available with E85 flex fuel capability.
The passenger wagon E-150 has an overall length of 216.7 inches, and extended versions are about 20 inches longer. When properly equipped, the passenger wagon E-350 can hold up to 15 passengers.
Standard safety features include driver and front passenger air bags, 4-wheel anti-lock brake system, tire pressure monitoring system, side-intrusion door beams and AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control. Available safety options include Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, which allows for direct operation of the trailer's electronic brakes, a dash-mounted front-passenger air bag cutoff switch and a rear-view camera system.
Storage space abounds in all E-Series trims, to include door panels with integrated second-bin compartments, a contents-retention strap driver's door, a storage tray above the passenger airbag, three large cup holders, an integrated clipboard holder, space for a laptop, a large glove box with a second power point, four optional user-defined switches on the dashboard and an efficient wiring harness.
Available options on the E-Series include remote keyless entry, exterior upgrade packages, the usual power accessories, carpeted floor covering and insulation/comfort items.
Ford also offers some innovative fleet and job-site technology for 2010. Ford Work Solutions includes an in-dash computer that provides full high-speed internet access and navigation. It is coupled with Ford Tool Link, a radio-frequency identification tracking system that allows customers to maintain a detailed inventory of the tools or equipment stored in the vehicle. Crew Chief is a fleet telematics and diagnostics system that allows small fleet owners to manage their vehicles, dispatch workers to job sites and keep detailed vehicle maintenance records. A navigation system that uses a 6.5-inch screen and SIRIUS Travel Link for traffic, weather and traveler's information is also available.
Model Changes
The Ford E-Series continues to focus on improving its technological capabilities to allow these vehicles to be both a work horses and a traveling office. To that extent, Ford added an E-250 trim, which adds another choice to the lineup.
Ford Work Solutions is a new combinations of options designed especially for those who work out of their van. Work Solutions includes an in-dash computer, powered by Microsoft Auto, that provides full high-speed internet access and navigation, and is available with a wireless mouse and printer. Tool Link, a radio-frequency identification tracking system developed with Dewalt, enables customers to maintain a detailed real-time inventory of the tools or equipment stored in the vehicle. Crew Chief, a fleet telematics and diagnostics system, allows small fleet owners to manage their vehicles, dispatch workers to job sites and keep detailed vehicle maintenance records. Ford's full-size E-Series vehicles have long been the top selling vans in the U.S. Since 1961, Ford has refined their full-size van to perfect it for the contractors, delivery drivers and airport shuttles with whom it is popular. Mileage will vary depending on the trim and how it is customized, yet all E-Series can are capable of E85 flex fuel. MSRP starts at $27,470. E-Series vans can also be customized for passenger use, where they can hold up to fifteen adults.
